Designer Jay Ott's Cause of Death Determined

The manner of death, however, has yet to be determined, a spokesperson says.

The New York City Medical Examiner’s Office has concluded its autopsy of designer Jay Ott and determined that the cause of death was drowning, spokesperson Julie Bolcer confirmed to Fashionista. The manner of death is undetermined.

Ott, most recently employed as a designer at the Dock Groupwent missing from his Brooklyn apartment at The McKibbin Lofts at 248 McKibbin Street on March 23; he was seen in various surveillance videos heading towards Manhattan. A frantic search by friends and family for the designer, who had previously worked for J. Mendel and The Row, turned up nothing. His body was found in the East River on May 9.

An initial autopsy proved inconclusive. The case will remain open. Foul play is not suspected.
