Oscar de la Renta's next focus: outfitting ladies' wrists.
No, it's not another wearable tech collab. The American luxury brand has teamed up with Detroit-based watch and leather goods company Shinola on a watch named The Lattice.
Though Shinola might be known for a more masculine, unassuming aesthetic, this limited run of 1,000 watches is decidedly feminine and thus very Oscar de la Renta. Inspired by de la Renta's jewelry collection, the watches feature a lattice design made of sapphire crystal and mother of pearl, and they all come in at a luxury price point: One with 68 diamonds and an alligator strap is $2,700. Versions without diamonds will be available in red and blue alligator straps for $1,400 and $1,600 respectively.
"Like us, Shinola believes in products designed and manufactured to the highest standards of quality," said Oscar de la Renta CEO Alex Bolen of the somewhat unlikely partnership. "We both believe that these high standards are best exemplified by American craftsmen.”
The collection will bow in October at Neiman Marcus as well as at Oscar de la Renta and Shinola stores and online. The pieces will also be featured in de la Renta's fall ad campaign (which you can see above) and in a hardcover book.
