Spanx Is Launching Denim

The term 'skinny jean' has new meaning.

Have you been wearing Spanx (a booty bra perhaps?) under your trendy high-waisted jeans for a... shall we say flattering... look? Well soon, you won't have to.

Spanx announced Thursday that the latest addition to its roster of magical body-smoothing products will be denim.

Come July 25, the brand will offer two styles of jeans: One, called the Signature, will be high-waisted with a wide waistband (meant to be hidden under a shirt) and a side zipper. The other, the Slim-X, is a traditional five-pocket jean with a lower, but still high, rise that shirts can be tucked into. According to a rep for the brand, the jeans have "patent-pending hidden shaping features that create a perky rear and all-around slimming fit."

Both styles will be available in skinny, straight and bootleg cuts and start at $148, which puts them in line with top denim brands like Paige and J Brand in terms of price. At launch, the jeans will only be available in Spanx stores and on

Spanx isn't the first brand to tackle slimming jeans. Miraclebody does them too but they aren't very stylish. Levi's has some better versions. Based on photos, Spanx's actually look decent, and given that they're coming from a brand practically synonymous with sucking in the fats, we imagine people will be interested.
