During the World Cup madness that's ensued over the last few weeks, we've heard (and seen) much about many of the footballers' stunningly beautiful girlfriends, but now it's one of the soccer fans who's in the spotlight.
Axelle Despiegelaere, a 17-year-old supporter of the Belgian soccer team, was captured in photos cheering during a World Cup game against Russia, which quickly went viral. She must have had modeling on her mind: As soon as she returned to Belgium, she created a professional Facebook page that quickly amassed thousands of likes. (That page has since been deleted, but Despiegelaere's unofficial fan page currently has over 200,000 likes.)
Beauty giant L'Oreal wasted no time in capitalizing on the gorgeous soccer fan's newfound fame, and on Tuesday, Despiegelaere announced on Facebook that she had accepted a modeling contract with the company. (Reps for L'Oreal did not immediately respond to our request for comment.)
Despiegelaere is now the star of a L'Oreal Professionnel video that captures Belgian brand ambassador Thierry Huys demonstrating a number of products on the model. Yes, it looks pretty amateur, but her beauty is undeniable. While it's unclear whether or not she'll become an official face of L'Oreal with a real deal ad campaign, we wouldn't be surprised to see one in the near future.
And while Belgium may not have advanced to the World Cup finals, at the very least, it might have a new home-grown supermodel to brag about. Watch her first-ever beauty ad below.
