Balmain Trades Rihanna for Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn
Once you have Rihanna as the face of your label, there's not much room for improvement. But Balmain managed to do just that with its fall 2014 ad campaign starring Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Binx Walton, Ysaunny Brito, Issa Lish and Kayla Scott.
Inspired by the safari theme of the fall collection, creative director Olivier Rousteing collaborated with stylist and art director Katie Grand and photographer Mario Sorrenti on the ads. We're guessing Grand came up with the lounging ladies theme -- it's a mainstay in her magazine, Love.
Speaking to WWD, Rousteing explained that the ad is meant to highlight “the beauty of different ethnicities” and reflect his status as “a black boy in a really important French house.” So not only is the ad cool and the clothing elaborate, but the photographs also have a real purpose behind them. Snaps for Olivier!
