We pride ourselves on our knowledge of models — from the supers to those who are more obscure — around these parts, but we'll admit, Prabal Gurung really stumped us earlier this week.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the designer posted snippets teasing his fall 2014 ad campaign on Instagram, asking fans to guess what model they thought was pictured. This was not just fun and games, of course: The three winners of the contest would each win a piece from Gurung's fall collection. So, naturally, we were like, "GAME ON, Internet."
While Steff and I were stuck on the idea that the designer chose an up-and-coming model for the campaign (think Devon Windsor or Natalie Westling), Lauren and Nina were convinced he went the supermodel route — and they were right. Gurung unveiled the campaign in full today, and it features lone model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, shot by Dan Jackson and styled by Karl Templer protégé Elin Svahn, standing on mountainous terrain in front of a red sky, wearing pieces from Gurung's Himalayas-inspired collection.
Whiteley hasn't been much of a campaign fixture in recent seasons — likely since she's working on building her personal brand and pursuing an acting career — but I'm really kicking myself for not guessing correctly, especially if that shearling collared coat was up for grabs.
