When it comes to Victoria Beckham, we're used to getting all glamour, all the time. But, for her most recent cover coup, she's getting back to her British roots — seriously, there is a wheelbarrow and wellies involved.
Beckham, who is the first-ever star to receive two covers for the same issue of Vogue UK, is featured in the magazine's August issue, shot by Patrick Demarchelier in a series of quintessentially English portraits.
Editor Alexandra Schulman explained that the designer is meant to channel poet, author and gardener Vita Sackville-West throughout the shoot — which took place at a rectory in southeast England — and is "playing the lady of the manor with gusto."
This would explain why the normally glammed-up Beckham is wearing wool sweaters, tweed hats and other garden-appropriate gear — and it could also be why she looks a bit glum in the preview of her editorial (see below). We're willing to bet that yard work and dog-walking don't rank high among VB's favorite activities, but we must say, she looks really good while doing them.
The August issue of Vogue UK hits newsstands on July 17. Head to the magazine's website for more on the cover story.
