Designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, the duo behind Viktor & Rolf, made their triumphant return to the couture schedule last year after more than a 10-year hiatus. They presented a lovely collection en pointe inspired by the brand's latest fragrance, BonBon.
For the fall 2014 couture collection, the pair returned to their more experimental, often surrealist roots. For major couture houses, like Chanel, Dior, or Valentino, couture is the time to flex their creative muscles, and to show gowns that will be ready to grace the red carpet when award season rolls around.
It would seem Viktor & Rolf also had the red carpet in mind this season. Every model hit the runway wearing garments in the exact same shade of a deep, orangish red. Indeed, many looked like they were wearing actual carpeting, so thick was the fabric. It's the kind of kooky, whimsical take on dressing we've come to expect from Horsting and Snoeren.
