Dannijo, the brand known for its spiky and edgy jewelry, is entering the footwear game for spring 2015. “We want to dress our woman head to toe, and shoes are a natural next step — literally and figuratively," designer Danielle Snyder says in a release.
The privately owned company (that's designed by two sisters) first branched out from jewelry with a line of handbags, which is now two seasons old. For its debut shoe collection, Dannijo is partnering with Eric Rutberg of Transparent Footwear Inc, who has previously produced shoes for Badgley Mischka and LAMB.
"Quality has always been of utmost importance to us — which is why the jewelry is handmade in New York and the bags in Italy--so partnering with an experienced licenser that could grow a lucrative luxury business was of utmost importance,” designer Jodie Snyder Morel says.
The line will hit a contemporary price point: Flat sandals will start at $250, dress sandals at $325, and spring booties from $450. They will feature all the signature elements of the jewelry line, including metal accents and Swarovski crystals to add sparkle. And since Dannijo has long been a digitally focused brand, they're launching the footwear with its own hashtag: #steponit.
