Alyssa's NOLA Pride Sunglasses

Just be careful not to lose them during your Bourbon St. bar crawl.

I lived in New Orleans for almost four years during college, and I mean it when I say that it's a magical place. While it's famous around the world for its architecture, music, food, plentiful booze and a little thing called Mardi Gras, it's probably not the first place (it may even be the last place) you think of when it comes to standout style. However, that seems like it's rapidly changing, and there's one local brand that caught my eye a few months ago.

I'm betting that Krewe du Optic, which creates retro-inspired frames that are all named after NOLA streets, could quickly become the new favorite sunglass label of editors and street style stars alike: With interesting twists on classic eyewear shapes in really fun colors, it's tough to decide on just one pair while browsing the website. This pair, called the St. Louis, is my favorite of the bunch — and it doesn't hurt that their namesake street is one of the most fun in the French Quarter. Excuse me while I start planning my next trip back...

St. Louis sunglasses, $235, available at Krewe du Optic.
