Sarah Jessica Parker's debut footwear outing for spring must have been well-received, because her second collection is hitting stores now, and she's again partnering with Nordstrom to sell the shoes exclusively.
The fall collection is similar to spring, albeit a little less, well, springy. There's a lot more black and other autumnal tones like deep red, purple, navy and grey. There are several closed-toe pumps, including a Mary Jane and a T-strap style that she carried over from the first collection. Parker has said that playing Carrie Bradshaw cemented her love for footwear, and that the iconic character would definitely have worn these. The T-strap shoe is, in fact, called "The Carrie."
Less Carrie are the very fall-appropriate boots, including a simple suede ankle boot and two above-the-knee styles. They're certainly elegant and, according to a release, inspired by real-life people Parker admires: There's the Pat Boot, named for "Sex and the City"'s legendary costume designer Patricia Field. "Without her contributions, Carrie Bradshaw would have been incomplete," says Parker. There's also the Serge Boot, named for her hairstylist of 14 years, Serge Normant.
There are new handbags, too, which haven't gotten as much attention as the shoes, but are cute and fill a void in the handbag market at the under-$500 price point. They range from $220 to $495, while the shoes are $285 to $695. All shoes and bags also feature Parker's grosgrain ribbon detail, which, to be honest, I could do without, but I guess it's good to have a signature.
