Australian hip hop artist Iggy Azalea made some of Sunday night's most talked-about fashion statements at the VMAs, where she performed her single "Black Widow" with Rita Ora. So it makes sense that Steve Madden would choose the next day to announce that it has tapped Azalea to collaborate on a footwear range.
"The idea for a collaboration came about a few months ago when Iggy performed in Brooklyn as part of our Madden Music series," a spokesperson for Madden told Fashionista. "She has an extremely gifted eye for fashion, and we're working on the collection now.”
It's Azalea's first legit fashion collaboration, but we can't say we didn't see it coming. Azalea has been building her fashion profile for a while -- an endeavor that has included an ad campaign, appearances and performances at various fashion shows and parties, a hosting gig for MTV's "House of Style" reboot and what is arguably the year's most stylish music video. Her own fashion choices are bold to say the least, so we look forward to seeing what she comes up with.
