Band of Outsiders Is Just as Good Without the Bells and Whistles

Scott Sternberg is just that good.

We were pretty bummed when we heard Band of Outsiders had cancelled its show this season, but our spirits were lifted this afternoon when the brand's spring 2015 women's look book landed in our inboxes.

When you're this good at designing clothes that people (at least we) are desperate to wear, you don't need a proper runway show, or even a proper look book shoot it seems. In a move that has likely saved Band of Outsiders many thousands of dollars, the looks were photographed in the brand's soon-to-be-finished first ever flagship in SoHo. Ladders, dollies, paint buckets and wires act as props. It's like they weren't even trying — but they still nailed it.

This scene reflects the effortless vibe of the clothes. Designer Scott Sternberg was inspired by 1940s Brazil and "the romantic idea of an American expatriate in a tropical locale," per a release.

It's all striped tees, easy dresses, relaxed pants, light ponchos, super-short bathing suit bottom-esque shorts and flat gladiator and slide sandals. Toile de Juoy and ladybug prints (inspired by jazz record cover art during the Tropicalia movement) add a playful spin, as do the floppy straw hats.
