In addition to being the breakout star of the Céline fall campaign (sorry Daria Werbowy and Natalie Westling), actress Marisa Tomei has been sitting FROW at Fashion Week, gracing the Zero + Maria Cornejo show with her presence on Monday night. Let me just say that in person, the Oscar winner looks just as effortlessly cool (and beautiful) as she does in her Juergen Teller-shot spread for the French design house campaign. (Seriously, does the woman age?) Turns out, there’s an explanation for that undone, natural look.
“It was amazing,” Tomei said about the photo shoot. “It was so easy. It took about an hour all together. I just showed up and [Céline creative director] Phoebe [Philo] was like, ‘Oh, I like her hair, her face looks great, just leave it.’ I was like, no, no, no, don’t leave it! I came naked for you. She’s like, ‘No! Leave it as is!’”
Considering the Céline gig isn’t Tomei’s first trip to the fashion campaign rodeo -- she starred in the Band of Outsiders fall 2009 one, too -- could guest modeling become a new side gig for her? The actress was in a pretty deep and animated conversation with J. Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons before the runway show…
“Well, I think the Céline thing is pretty great,” Tomei said. “That’s enough for now.”
