Rachel Zoe's Heart Will Always Belong to Styling

The stylist and designer returns to the Fashion Week schedule with a beautiful presentation.

Rachel Zoe put on one of the most civilized presentations I had been to all week: Set in a loft at the Soho Grand hotel, the clothes sat on racks alongside trays of mimosas, a sweeping view of Manhattan and a cheese platter (!!!!!). After taking last season off to have her second son, Zoe completely reconsidered the runway format. "I just thought I would try this and go back to being intimate and interacting with people," Zoe said. "I feel like people are running to a thousand shows for the next four weeks, and I thought it might be kind of nice to take a breather, have a mimosa and some food, and look at some pretty clothes."

"I'm always trying to design for that multi-hyphenate woman," said Zoe, who knows a little something about being a multi-hyphenate herself (son Skye was absolutely charming wandering around the venue as Zoe and husband Rodger kept a watchful eye). "She's a really savvy girl or woman on the go, and those are the clothes I make, to work for your every day life but to feel as glamorous as possible." Set in a (shocker!) black and white palette, there were perfect day dresses, sexy jumpsuits, and a few great options for evening.

Zoe is known first and foremost for being a stylist, recently garnering praise when it was revealed she's behind the rise of up-and-coming style star Kiernan Shipka. So how does she juggle a full fashion line with a styling gig? A little help, for starters. "Designing has become a full time job for me, so I style a bit less," she said, crediting her styling team's hard work. "But I'm always going to style. It's my heart, it's my core"
