Baz Lurhmann Is Throwing a Party at Central Park Zoo for Barneys

It's going to be wild.

In case you hadn't heard, writer/director/producer Baz Luhrmann and his wife, costume designer Catherine Martin, are teaming up with Barneys for its annual holiday event this year. It's being called Baz Dazzled Holiday and marks the latest in a string of fashion collaborations for the couple, including projects with Prada and Brooks Brothers around 2013's "The Great Gatsby," a film for the "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations" Met exhibit, and Luhrmann's upcoming film for Chanel No.5.

But we are particularly excited about the Barneys campaign because it will kick off with a party at a surprising location: the Central Park Zoo. Yes, the zoo! And if the decadent scenes in films like "Gatsby" and "Moulin Rouge" are any indication, the filmmaker knows how to throw a party.

Page Six first reported (and Barneys confirmed) that the zoo will be transformed into a "fairy tale wonderland" with an "eclectic A-list crowd" expected to attend. Given that the Bazz Dazzled in-store experience is supposed to involve "a magical world filled with fantastical characters, woodland creatures, ice skaters, snow owls and candy canes," we can only begin to imagine what they plan to create in an actual zoo, with actual woodland creatures!

We love an unconventional fashion party idea, particularly those involving animals: Just this week, Band of Outsiders threw a "Dog Days" event at its new downtown location. Guests brought their dogs and puppies were available for playing (and adopting). It's only a matter of time before some brand throws an event at a cat café.
