Chanel to Stage Next Show on 'Sound of Music' Set
What comes after staging a feminist march? If you're Chanel, showing your next collection at a rococo-style Austrian palace, naturally.
On December 2 -- the same night, it's worth noting, as the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in London -- Chanel will show its Métiers d’art collection at Schloss Leopoldskron, just outside of Salzburg, the company announced. Some may recognize Schloss Leopoldskron from The Sound of Music: It served as the water-facing front of the Von Trapp house in the Julie Andrews film. Today it is used primarily as a venue for conferences and other events.
Karl Lagerfeld loves to take the Métiers d'art collection on the road: In past seasons, he's shown in Dallas, Texas, and Edinburgh, Scotland. Since both those collections borrowed inspiration from their locales, it's safe to assume that the upcoming Salzburg show will have a distinctly Austrian twist.
