The Limited launched Eloquii in an attempt to break in to the plus-size market in 2011, but quietly shuttered the brand two years later. The team behind it, determined to keep the brand alive for customers clamoring for more options, found private investors and relaunched Eloquii in February of this year, selling designs exclusively through its own website -- until now. Nordstrom will sell select pieces from Eloquii, including a few which are exclusive to the retailer.
It's not surprising that retailers like Nordstrom would be looking for a way to capitalize on the growing plus-size market, sales of which increased five percent between 2012 and 2013. Currently, the retailer is offering the brand exclusively online -- alongside plus-size offerings from Adrianna Papell, City Chic, Eileen Fisher, Lucky Brand, Sejour, NYDJ and Vince Camuto -- but the option to sell in brick-and-mortar is on the table.
