Taylor Swift Is the Latest Celebrity to Pay Sartorial Tribute to Oscar de la Renta

The star has called him her "all-time favorite designer."

Just over a week ago on October 20, legendary designer Oscar de la Renta passed away after a long battle with cancer. Although his legacy will live on through his work and his fashion house, which recently hired Peter Copping to take the creative lead, it's difficult to imagine the fashion industry at large without him. Celebrities who turned to the designer for their red carpet looks over the years are in mourning, too, and whether or not it's intentional, have been paying him tribute over the past few days on the red carpet.

Jennifer Lawrence chose a lovely, white lace dress by the designer for her appearance at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards — the very same day de la Renta passed. Reese Witherspoon followed suit, wearing an embroidered white sundress of his last Tuesday at a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event in Los Angeles. Finally, Taylor Swift — who posted a tribute to de la Renta on her Instagram after she heard the news of her "all-time favorite designer" passing — wore a look from his pre-fall 2014 collection on Tuesday for her David Letterman appearance.

While we didn't expect that celebrities and red carpet fixtures to stop wearing pieces from the American fashion house any time soon, we're happy to see that so many of his famous fans are helping his name live on.
