I've been obsessed with fisherman sweaters ever since the last polar vortex (and since The Row sent its version, exquisitely handcrafted in 90+ hours, down its fall 2014 runway). There's something so cozy and rugged about the loose fit and chunky cable-knit details. They also can serve as a nice counterbalance to more feminine garments, like a pleated skirt or lace-embroidered dress. Plus, you can sex up the traditionally Cape Cod-ish knit by pairing it with sleek leather jeans or a pencil skirt.
Fortunately -- since not all of us have the credit line for the adorable Carven pom-pom knit (sigh) or A.W.A.K.E.'s four-digit busting roll-neck -- the style does come in a range of price points, from DKNY's wool-blend pullover to Zara's boyfriend-fit version, all of which promise to keep us warm and enviably chic this winter.
