Valentino is the latest fashion house to take its show on the road. Following in the footsteps of labels like Dior and Chanel, which have opted to stage runway shows in exotic locales in recent seasons, WWD reports that Valentino will present its couture collection in Rome — instead of its usual home base Paris — on July 10.
A spokesperson for Valentino did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation.
While Rome does host a small Fashion Week twice a year, it doesn't boast nearly as many big names as its Parisian counterpart, and Valentino will only move its show for one season in order to celebrate the grand opening of its Roman flagship store, which is housed inside the historic palace Piazza Mignanelli. It's also a homecoming of sorts for the brand, as the Piazza Mignanelli is where designer Valentino Garavani resides in Rome, and where the House of Valentino's headquarters is located.
Valentino Couture will head back to Paris in January for the spring 2016 show, but we're looking forward to seeing what the label does to celebrate its short (but special) Roman holiday.
