While a preview of Balmain's supermodel-studded ad campaign for Spring 2015 was released a couple of weeks ago, little did we know that Creative Director Olivier Rousteing had a huge surprise up his sleeve for the season's menswear campaign — in the form of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
The designer, who is close friends with the couple (and dressed Kardashian for her bachelorette and her wedding after party), posted the above photo to Instagram on Monday morning, and Kardashian did the same soon after. Balmain has confirmed that the image is indeed a part of the menswear campaign, shot by Mario Sorrenti. It will officially debut in the March 2015 issues of leading fashion magazines.
In a release about the campaign, Rousteing had some lovely things to say about the couple: "For this Menswear campaign, I wanted to capture a moment of love. Kim and Kanye are style icons and friends. It is an honour to have them in this Balmain campaign. Together, they represent love, beauty and diversity — they are the new modernity. This is more than a campaign, it expresses something beyond clothes — it is a celebration of love and friendship. This is a new statement for Balmain."
The Kardashian-West family has had a stellar year of headline making — from their Vogue cover and spread to their extravagant (and fashion-filled) wedding weekend to Kim's success at breaking the Internet with her Paper magazine cover. Unveiling a top-tier fashion campaign is the perfect way to close out 2014. We wonder how Kendall Jenner, who's a face of Marc Jacobs this season, feels about sharing the spring 2015 campaign spotlight with her older sister.
