On Sunday night, the 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place in Los Angeles. If you didn't hear too much hubbub surrounding the event, you're not alone: The vibe on the red carpet wasn't nearly as electric as it was at the Golden Globes earlier this month, and truth be told, nobody in attendance seemed that thrilled to be there. (Excepting the cast of "Orange Is the New Black," which cleaned up throughout the evening. Bravo, ladies!)
We're well on our way to the Oscars at this point, and while we're certain that the looks this year's nominees are saving up for that occasion are top-notch, the gowns we saw at the SAG Awards were less so. Sure, there were a lot of "safe," pretty dresses — for instance, the black lace Monique Lhuillier gown on "Veep" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus — but across the board, the choices were pretty snoozy. As this formula becomes more and more prominent each Awards Season, we're left hoping that a few celebrities take a bit of a risk — whether it's with a bright color, a dramatic, architectural silhouette or an unknown designer — and thankfully, we were able to find some ladies at the SAGs who helped fill our red carpet desires.
