I've always been really finicky about makeup makeup, as in, makeup that really makes it clear that you are, indeed, wearing makeup. Examples include thick eyeliner and bold lipstick.
It's not that I don't like these things on other people, but in the case of bold lipstick, it's rare that I find a shade that I feel really looks natural and flattering — and dark ones, specifically, often give off a goth vibe that doesn't really suit me — but I recently found one I'm obsessed with.
It's a deep berry/purple/red color from Clinique's Different Lipstick collection, called A Different Grape. It goes on super smooth and a little sheer, and even contains moisturizing emollients. It looks totally normal on me, and would probably flatter just about any skin tone. I plan to wear it as much as possible throughout the winter months.
Clinique Different Lipstick in A Different Grape, $16, available at Sephora.
