Kate Middleton is back on the scene, wearing things and going places. The Duchess of Cambridge dedicated a new art room Thursday at an elementary school in London wearing a dress from British maternity line Madderson. She just turned 33 years old last week and is five months pregnant with her second child.
The simple navy wool shift is accentuated with pink and gold tweed trim along the bottom hem and pockets. She wore it with opaque black tights, black pumps and a simple black clutch. Notably, she chose a dress on the shorter side -- above the knee -- despite reports that the Queen requested she lengthen her hemlines.
After her visit to New York in December, I have basically given up on hoping for exciting fashion choices from Middleton during the rest of her pregnancy. It's a lot of maternity wear and coats, as is her prerogative and which makes perfect sense for visiting schools and most of her official duties. Thankfully, her perfectly shiny hair and generally adorable demeanor never falter.
