While Kendall Jenner walked the runway for yet another Chanel show, her mom Kris tagged along with the goal of proving that she can parade around Paris during Couture Week with even more vitality than her younger daughters -- and in crazier outfits.
First, there was the sequined Balmain mini dress she wore for a night out with Olivier Rousteing on Saturday, then the skin-tight above-the-knee boots she paired with a black cape while out with her makeup artist. But the pièce de résistance (so far) was Tuesday's Chanel look, which included a pair of sheer tapered pants from the house's resort 2015 collection.
Even the Chanel bouclé blazer, black turtleneck and Stuart Weitzman nudist heels couldn't tone down this insanity, and the strategically placed lego clutch and bejeweled sunglasses added a level of confident, kooky glamour that is wonderful and, in a way, timeless. And of course there are the requisite leather gloves -- something Jenner and Karl Lagerfeld bonded over when he shot Kim Kardashian for CR. Between her outfit and her pose, Jenner seems to feel like she's the most fabulous person ever to live, and even Kardashian would have to admit it's a step up from the "omish shit" and "pilgrim adams family outfits" she's been favoring for the past year or two.
Plus, at 59, Jenner is probably more representative of the people who can actually afford to buy Chanel than, say, her 19-year-old daughter. And those 59-year-olds probably wouldn't have considered sheer pants until now. Perhaps once her contract runs out for the incontinence products she sometimes shills, Chanel could be an option? Mature campaign stars are all the rage, and she's just about the only member of her family that isn't in a fashion ad.
