Mick Jagger Donates Central Saint Martins Scholarship to Honor L'Wren Scott
When designer L'Wren Scott tragically took her own life early in 2014, her longtime partner Mick Jagger released a statement expressing his shock and grief. "She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me," he said in a note posted to his website.
Now, he has chosen to honor that talent by setting up three two-year scholarships to students attending London's prestigious Central Saint Martins college for the MA in Fashion program, the school announced Friday. The L'Wren Scott scholarship will be given to one incoming student each year in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and covers the duration of the two-year course, including contributions toward living fees.
“I am very grateful to receive this extremely generous scholarship package, gifted by Mick Jagger in L’Wren Scott’s name," says Fabio Piras, course director of Central Saint Martins's MA Fashion program. "Our students sacrifice much to take up this course and work extremely hard while they are here. I am very proud of the fact that this course through its alumni, continues to be recognized as a major contributor to the future of the global fashion industry.”
