Kanye West Wants Everyone To Wear Yeezys
Kanye West called into "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" from his "design headquarters" on Wednesday morning to talk about the voices in his head (which sounds extremely motivational, to tell the truth), his new kinship — and future collab? — with former nemesis Taylor Swift and why he probably won't be going back to the Grammys anytime soon.
He also talked quite a bit about his new collaboration with Adidas — the fruits of which will be presented at New York Fashion Week on Thursday —and he sounds excited about it. Like, REALLY excited. It's almost adorable, in a softer side of 'Ye kind of way.
So, first thing's first: Kanye West IS NOT angry with his former sneaker partner, Nike. Also, Louis Vuitton. He really needed the practice.
"Even though I seem like I'm attacking [Nike in past interviews], I really feel I'm thankful that they gave me the opportunity to make the first two Yeezys with them — also, of course, Louis Vuitton, and all these people that allowed me to practice and also build a name and hype around this part of creativity in my life. So now, I went to Adidas a year and a half ago — I left Nike and went to Adidas — and they offered to allow me to make an entire line and give me an office and all these things I wanted to do... just to create more."
The Adidas x Yeezy presentation will be shown in 10 different locations over two days so that families in Brooklyn can experience it.
"We're not only gonna just show the presentation to buyers and press the way they do with fashion shows. We're gonna show the presentation 10 times over the next two days, where, if you're a family in Brooklyn, you can come and bring your kids and just check it out."
But wait a second, NOT JUST IN BROOKLYN!
"But wait a second not just Brooklyn! We're going to STREAM the presentation to 40 locations across the globe: Johannesburg, Melbourne, Sydney, London, Atlanta, Chicago."

West has a soft spot, in particular, for young couples living in Atlanta who thirst after his and his wife Kim Kardashian's pricey style. They can go watch the presentation in movie theaters at 4 o'clock (maybe?).
"If you're in Atlanta and you're a fresh kid, and you wore the Margielas 'cause you saw me up there at the Yeezy tour with them, and you know your girl is fresh, 'cause she got some Alaïa shoes off of eBay, 'cause she saw Kim wear them at Fashion Week, and you're doing your thing and everything, and you find out 'Ye's got this fashion show that you can go to a theater at 4 o'clock to see, you're gonna go see that!"
West is sympathetic to those who can't afford a pair of Yeezys, because they'll cost $350 when the first 9,000 are released to the masses this Saturday. He's also anti-sneaker-induced violence.
"I want to apologize to all the kids and all the parents that can't get the shoes currently because there's only 9,000. And also, 'cause they're $350 and if they're out of anyone's price range ... I just wanna make sure that we keep it safe. I've heard about people getting hurt for sneakers in the past, and I just want everyone to be safe and be patient — just be patient. I know you can run up on this 14-year-old kid and take his Yeezys, but just be patient because we'll make more Yeezys. Eventually, everybody who wants to get Yeezys will get Yeezys; Adidas has promised me that, because there's so many kids that have wanted them that couldn't get them. I talked to the heads at Adidas, and they said we can make them."
Oh, and as far as West's next career move? He wants to design school uniforms. No, but really.
"Next season, my focus is gonna be doing high school uniforms. Like, when I was growing up, kids wanted Jordans — kids got killed for Jordans. Now that I'm in a position, I'm gonna make sure EVERYONE gets Yeezys."
Yeezys for all!
'Ye's sister-in-law Khloe Kardashian also posted the below photo on Instagram Wednesday with a few more (wrinkly) deets on Thursday's presentation. Looks like in addition to some killer high-tops, there'll be a performance by visual artist Vanessa Beecroft. Hmmm....
