KimYe Wore Creepy Blue Contacts for the 'SNL 40' Festivities


He blinked, and you missed them.

Despite being in the midst of his hoodies-as-formalwear phase, Kanye West was considerate enough to add a bit of unexpected flair to his getup for the "Saturday Night Live" 40th anniversary special on Sunday evening: blue contact lenses.

Not gonna lie — it looked pretty creepy.  

Due to the dimly-lit set, they were kind of hard to see during 'Ye's intense performance of his new track, "Wolves" — but Kim Kardashian was considerate enough to post a close-up Instagram of her husband's icy iris situation, above.

Chills. Of course, Kim being Kim, she had to get in on the action, too. According to a release, the lenses were custom-made by NYC doctor Mitch Cassel. This is a total optometrist selfie, if I've ever seen one.

What do you call a nightmare that happens when you're awake? A daymare? Because I think I just had one.

The thing is, well... OK. I have a confession. When I was a sophomore in college, I wore blue contacts. And not even just for a night, like Kim and Kanye. I'm talking months of wearing scary, cerulean lenses. I thought they looked good. I was mistaken.

So, in the name of honest journalism, here's the part where I embarrass myself for all of the Internet to see. And also to say, hey Kimye! I DID IT FIRST. :)
