Peter Pilotto Takes on Outside Investment, Kim Kardashian Covers 'Elle' France

And Brookfield Place, a massive new shopping destination, has opened in lower Manhattan.

Kim Kardashian is Elle France's latest cover star. She wears a head-to-toe Balmain ensemble designed by pal Olivier Rousteing, who also cast the reality TV star in his men's spring ad campaign alongside her husband Kanye West. The cover must have been shot quite last-minute — Kardashian bleached her hair just three weeks ago.

London-based womenswear label Peter Pilotto has scored a minority investment from MH Luxe and Megha Mittal, chairman and managing director of Escada. Self-financed since its launch in 2007, Peter Pilotto sought out funding to drive its wholesale business forward. {Business of Fashion}

Thursday marked the grand opening of Brookfield Place, the first of three retail projects taking place in lower Manhattan. With a $250 million investment, the mall has nearly doubled in size and will feature stores ranging from J.Crew to Burberry. {WWD}
