My favorite kind of shoe is a fashionable heel that looks — and feels — like a dressy flat. Something you can walk in and still get a little lift, that's suitable for the office and, in a pinch, an evening out. That combination is largely the reason I'm so partial to my non-trendy Ferragamos, and now to 3.1 Phillip Lim's (arguably trendier) pointed-toe Quinn loafer.
The style isn't new — Lim has introduced the shoe in a mix of black and contrasting leathers and materials in past seasons, including patent and shearling — but spring's navy leather and white-soled version is. The pointed toe elongates the leg, and I like how it pulls out the white print of my favorite Marni skirt and smartens up a simple white shirtdress from Gap. Most importantly, it works with my lifestyle — I can walk the mile to yoga class without a second thought. No wonder it's the pair of shoes I'm wearing most right now.
3.1 Phillip Lim "Quinn" Loafers, $450, available at Shoescribe.
