After some false starts with live-action films -- remember ''Battleship''? -- someone had the brilliant idea to put Rihanna's raspy, distinctive voice in an animated children's movie. Dreamworks cast the singer alongside Jim Parsons, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez in "Home," where she plays a young girl named Tip who befriends an alien and gets swept up in a requisite dose of adventures. Sounds super adorable.
To promote the movie on Sunday in New York, Rihanna did her best to channel cute instead of sexy in a bow-covered knit dress and matching cardigan from designer Adam Selman's fall 2015 collection. It isn't exactly a conservative look -- she's clearly not wearing a bra, and the hem of her dress hits mid-thigh -- but it's basically a muumuu in comparison to what the singer wears on other public occasions, like that famously transparent crystal-embellished dress she wore to the CFDA Awards in June, also designed by Selman.
To style the look, Rihanna took cues straight from Selman's fall 2015 show: a modified beehive, long nude nails, hoop earrings and the rebellious attitude to match. Her ladylike pumps and ankle socks also evoke the 1960s' irreverent attitude to dressing that inspired Selman's presentation.
All that's missing are some cat-eye sunglasses. Do they make those in 3D?
