Along with slide sandals and white sneakers, espadrilles feel like an essential shoe style for this spring and summer and I've yet to see a better, cooler version than these, the product of a collaboration between A.P.C. and Ball Pagés, a two-year-old French company that does handmade espadrilles in the style of those worn by Ibizan folklore dancers.
Something about them feels authentic and timeless and A.P.C. claims that they're durable and will last multiple summers, hopefully justifying the somewhat hefty price tag for such an uncomplicated shoe. I also like that they're completely flat, as opposed to most espadrilles on the market, which have a platform or wedge silhouette.
A.P.C. x Ball Pagés espadrilles, $295, available at A.P.C.
