The Metropolitan Museum of Art's spring 2015 exhibition, entitled "China: Through The Looking Glass," opens to the public on May 7, and to celebrate the occasion, celebrities and industry insiders will walk the red carpet in white tie designer fashion that fits in with the Chinese-inspired showcase.

We'll admit that this year's theme is a tricky one, and although the goal of the exhibit is to explore the wide-reaching influence of Asian art and film on Western fashion, cultural appropriation and accidental racism in choosing an ensemble seems unavoidable. Call us cautiously optimistic, but we're hoping that the looks that fall on the respectful, regal end of the spectrum will outshine the rest.
