Rebel Wilson to Partner with Torrid on a Plus-Sized Clothing Line

The announcement comes days before her next feature film, "Pitch Perfect 2," hits theaters.

Australian actress Rebel Wilson has always taken a lighthearted approach to her curves — she gives her character in "Pitch Perfect" the nickname "Fat Amy," for instance — and now she's bringing that confident attitude to her first-ever design collaboration. The 29-year-old is partnering with plus-size clothing brand Torrid to create a capsule collection for holiday that will hit stores and the web in November.

It's the brand's first time teaming up with a celebrity, and by choosing a comedienne like Wilson, the resulting pieces are full of fun details, like microphone-shaped hardware and a koala-print t-shirt. This collection comes on the heels of a number of other high-profile plus-size collaborations, like Lela Rose and Isabel Toledo's lines for Lane Bryant, as well as Target's Lilly Pulitzer collaboration that included items for plus-sized women. While this is still a relatively new phenomenon in the market, it seems to be picking up lots of momentum.

In a statement, Wilson said she admires Torrid for keeping plus-size fashion "relevant and dope," while keeping its clothing at an affordable price point. The first Rebel for Torrid collection is made up of 25 pieces (including both womenswear and accessories) ranging in price from $28 to $125, and there are already plans in place for a follow-up collection to be released in spring 2016.
