Over the weekend, I donated or consigned all but two pairs of stilettos (a Stuart Weitzman two-strap sandal and a Manolo Blahnik black BB pump, if you were curious). It wasn't hard: Uncomfortable and movement-impairing, I hadn't worn many of them in years.
What's left in my collection is a small selection of shoes with 1.5" to 2.5" block heels, plus a few flat sandals. The most recent addition is a pair of Acne Studios mules, pictured above. With a 3.1" heel, they're a bit taller than I'd like, but they're relatively comfortable and easy to move around in. I like how unusual-looking they are — with putty-colored leather accented with silver studs and a bamboo-shaped heel in lacquered green — but they still pair pretty easily with my mostly navy and white wardrobe. As an added bonus, they're on sale.
Acne Studios mules, now $420, available at Shoescribe.
