Elizabeth Banks Makes (Almost) Head-to-Toe Yellow Work in Prada

Yellow's a scary color, here's how to do it right.

Miuccia Prada's designs are often described as "ugly chic," and the spring 2015 dress actress and director Elizabeth Banks wore Monday night is a lovely example. Such a yellow brocade would seemingly make more sense on a piece of upholstered furniture than on a cocktail dress, but the washed-out tones in the brocade, coupled with the dress's flawless construction and fit, make it work as the latter. It certainly looks like the right outfit for something called the "Chrysalis Butterfly Ball."

Credit also goes to Banks and her stylist (usually Wendi and Nicole Ferreira) for keeping the accessories within the same color story — without making the look too matchy-matchy. The sparkling earrings, gold cocktail ring, champagne-colored satin clutch and nude pumps were just the right accents, enhancing the dress rather than distracting from it. Banks looked simultaneously old-world and fresh as a daisy.
