Watch James Corden's Opening Serenade at the CFDA Awards

What you won't see: Corden's barbed jokes about high-profile attendees, including Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, and the event's main sponsor, Swarovski.

After hosting the CFDA Awards Monday evening, it's not hard to see why James Corden is Anna Wintour's favorite comedian. The British host of CBS's "The Late Late Show" earned many laughs and warm applause during the two-hour event, opening with a serenade lightly poking fun at the seriousness of the trade ("To seam the impossible seam/To sew that unsewable dress/And the malls will be better for this/That your minds with their modelesque dreams/Still strove with a plus-size ambition/To sew the impossible seam").

Corden went on to make some more pointed jokes at the expense of the evening's sponsor, Swarovski, as well as Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and Terry Richardson — "Asking me to host the CFDAs is like asking Terry Richardson to host your daughter’s birthday party" — but those, interestingly (and unfortunately), were cut from the video clip the CFDA posted online, which you can watch above.
