If Monday's news that Lucky is going out of print didn't depress you enough, this Instagram post by Band of Outsiders founder Scott Sternberg should do the trick. In his first public comment since we broke the news in May that Band had cancelled its fall orders and laid off the majority of its staff, Sternberg confirms that his time at the company is indeed over. But he adds, interestingly, that he "can't comment on the future of the brand" because it's "out of his hands."
So perhaps all is not said and done for the brand Band of Outsiders; though, without Sternberg (and, presumably, most of the brand's core staff), it would lose the personality, point of view and authenticity that made it so beloved, at least for me.
As you can see above, Sternberg kept his goodbye pretty short and sweet, closing with the tidbit that "The store [located in Soho, NYC] should be open for at least another week so, like, go buy something cute. And enjoy it. That was the whole point of this thing after all."
He also introduced followers to his personal Instagram account, @angusmoffett, so that the Scott Sternberg-obsessed among us have something to hold onto.
