There are certain qualifications, I imagine, that exist in order to get cast as Wonder Woman. There's being a sparkling fountain of ball-busting femininity and empowerment, for one. Then, blergh, there's "looking the part" — which, in Hollywood, most often means an overwhelmingly slender build. There's having a propensity for stunts and athleticism, as well as a vaguely intriguing and alluring aura. In sum: This female should, ideally, be a demigoddess.
To that end, our friends at Warner Bros. found themselves the perfect Wonder Woman for the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in Gal Gadot, an Israeli actress, model and verified badass who served for two years as a trainer in the Israel Defense Forces. Now best known for her role as Gisele in the "Fast and the Furious" franchise, 30-year-old Gadot also counts a Miss Israel title (as in, yes, beauty pageants) and a Gucci contract among her many accolades.
The Italian fashion house announced Gadot as the face of its new Gucci Bamboo fragrance last week, and on Tuesday, she celebrated with a fancy party in New York City. Wearing a pleated cream dress and coordinating pointy-toe pumps, Gadot radiated a softness we likely won't see when she hits the big screen as a super hero. For now, that's almost more exciting — though we surely won't mind watching her kick Ben Affleck's booty once "Batman v Superman" arrives next March.
