A trip to unfamiliar territory tends to send me into a bit of a packing panic. Will I have enough t-shirts to last a week? Do I have enough layers to sleep comfortably on the plane? Isn't it about time I bought a hat? Etc., etc.
On Wednesday, I'm heading off for a 10-day trip to Istanbul with my dad and, looking at the number of tours we've signed up for, it seems like I'm going to walk more than I ever have in my life. As usual, I'm snapping up some last-minute items: Everlane v-neck tees in stone and slate, a zip-up tote to take on the plane and, most critically, a pair of tennis classics from Nike. I bought a limited-edition pair from Dover Street Market in London a year ago, and they immediately became my favorite sneaker, both aesthetically (the Dover Street edition was particularly minimalist, doing away with the logo on the heel) and in terms of comfort — the leather is softer than any other sneaker in my closet.
As a result, I wore through that initial pair pretty quickly, and this upcoming trip to Istanbul was the impetus I needed to purchase another. Tour guides, I'm ready for ya.
Nike Tennis Classics Ultra Fo, $120, available at Nike.
