The 10 Biggest Stories in Fashion This Week

Alexander Wang exits Balenciaga, Cara Delevingne gets snarky on morning TV, Jane Birkin wants her name back and more.

Bagged: Last month, a PETA investigation alleged inhumane production practices at two of Hermès's crocodile skin suppliers, causing Jane Birkin to ask that the Paris-based fashion house remove her name from its crocodile Birkin Bag. Hermès responded to Birkin's request, specifying that the hides supplied "are not used for the fabrication of Birkin bags." PETA, then, took it one step further — buying a single share in the brand to gain access to its shareholder meetings.

Confirmation: It's official: Alexander Wang is parting ways with Balenciaga after less than three years with the French fashion house. He will show his final collection for Balenciaga during Paris Fashion Week in October.

Eek: Prepare yourself for what might be the most cringe-inducing interview in history. Cara Delevingne was interviewed by the folks at "Good Day Sacramento" — and things quickly went south. Our jaws are still on the floor.

Uber-couture: The house of Yves Saint Laurent is getting back to its roots. Hedi Slimane is relaunching the couture sector of Saint Laurent and promising it will be "more exclusive" than your standard couture range. Conveniently, this comes at the same time the brand completed renovations of its new ateliers on Paris's Left Bank.

Turnaround: Gucci's sales have increased for the first time in two years. It remains to be seen, however, if this uptick is due to the direction of Alessandro Michele, who has received positive press since taking the creative helm.
