From newly minted Chanel face Lily-Rose Depp to Cindy Crawford's 13-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber to Zac Posen muse Maya Thurman-Hawke, this summer has introduced the fashion world to a whole new crop of celebrity offspring to watch. While members of this new, genetically blessed generation often make red carpet appearances with their famous parents, it's becoming much more commonplace for them to model together for top-tier magazines and brands. (Crawford and her kids earned an entire editorial in the Sept. 2015 issue of Vogue.)
French label Comptoir des Cotonniers (which also operates stores in the U.S.) is the latest retailer to hop on the bandwagon, and for its 20th anniversary campaign, it cast Charlotte Gainsbourg — who's well-loved within fashion circles as a style star and long-standing muse to Nicolas Ghesquiere — alongside her 12-year-old daughter, Alice Attal. To further break down her pedigree for you, Attal is also Jane Birkin's granddaughter and Lou Doillon's niece.
The brand has made it a tradition to shoot mother-daughter pairs over the years, and for fall, Gainsbourg and Attal were shot on the streets of their native Paris by photographer Alasdair McLellan. Considering Fashion Month is around the corner — and French houses like Balmain and Sonia Rykiel have made headlines in recent seasons for casting both siblings and celebrity kids on their runways — we're going to keep our eyes peeled for Attal, at least on the red carpets and in the front row.
