The only way I can articulate the scent of Aveda's Shampure hair products is to say that it smells like a bed of herbs drenched in sunlight, or the guest bathroom in a wealthy adult's home. On its website, Aveda describes it as a "beloved calming aroma with 25 pure flower and plant essences." Which 25, you might wonder? Chill out, friend. Don't ask too many questions.
The Shampure shampoo and conditioner set are worth the price tag entirely for the smell. As far as the formula is concerned, my hair doesn't look earth-shatteringly good after using it, but the scent sticks around all day and I love it for that. It's pretty gender-neutral — insofar as gender is a construct, and the designation of particular colors, hobbies and smells to one of said "genders" is, too — which I like about it, too.
Aveda Shampure shampoo and conditioner, $13.50 each, available at Nordstrom.
