I've lived in New York City for about six years — and have visited annually since my early childhood — but if you asked me what my favorite thing about this place is, I'm not sure I could come up with a definitive answer. The skyline, the uniqueness of each neighborhood, the unbeatable people-watching and the pulsing energy that can be felt at every street corner make me count my lucky stars that I'm able to call NYC home, but something that can't be overlooked is the abundance of delicious food — the best of which often comes quite cheap.
I'll admit, I'm a sucker for a Shake Shack hot dog, and I eat corner store pizza for dinner much more frequently than is healthy or reasonable. But, thanks to this new t-shirt collaboration from Madewell and New York-based brand Deer Dana, I can take solace in the fact that I'm not alone.
The collection celebrates three cities, New York, Paris and Tokyo, and turns their respective delicacies into happy faces. As you could probably guess, Paris's tee involves cheese, baguette and croissants, while Tokyo's is an illustrated ode to sushi. My personal favorite (shocking, I know) is the NYC version, which combines donuts, pizza and a hot dog. It not only makes me hungry for junk food, it serves as the ideal antidote to the grumpy, scowling city dwellers I often pass on the street. If this tee doesn't make you smile, we don't think any amount of hibiscus donuts could help your cause.
