Kiernan Shipka Was All Smiles and Cool Style at New York Fashion Week
There are plenty of celebrities who take themselves too seriously (we're looking at you, Kanye), but then there are those who seem to take everything in stride with a smile on their faces. One of the ladies who happens to fall into the latter category is 15-year-old "Mad Men" actress Kiernan Shipka, and we were pleasantly surprised to see her making the rounds at New York Fashion Week.
We knew the girl was fashionable, but Shipka definitely played around with a broader range of looks this season, reflecting both designers' aesthetics and her growing sense of personal style. Read on for our thoughts on Shipka's choices this season.
For Phillip Lim's 10th anniversary show, Shipka chose a simple burgundy sweater and a pair of menswear-inspired pants that really nailed what the designer's aesthetic is all about — classic and effortless, but with an unexpected twist. And in a world where extreme contouring has become the rule and not the exception, her barely-there beauty look was a breath of fresh air.

In an ensemble that both moms and teenagers can get behind, the young actress arrived at Rag & Bone looking decidedly more edgy. Kudos to Shipka for balancing the sexiness of her mesh top with sexy black shoes and purple corduroy pants. (Yes, seriously.) Needless to say, we were also smitten with the actress's winged eyeliner and coiffed hairstyle.
We imagine she is the type of girl that Stuart Vevers has in mind when designing his collections for Coach. The combination of this floral shirt, leather skirt and booties — with a cute bag to match — is both age-appropriate and as cool as can be.
Perhaps it's a result of playing a character from the '50s, but Shipka can transition seamlessly from one look to the other without seeming like she's trying too hard. Case in point: this full Delpozo look from the label's fall 2015 collection. The actress even had this to say on her Instagram: "WOW. Delpozo's show was ethereal, breathtaking, stunning, magical, and absolutely beyond. I am still in awe." If you're ever interested in doing a review for us, you know where to find us, Kiernan.
For the Harper's Bazaar's Icons event, Shipka flaunted her décolleté in a blue strapless dress from Valentino's pre-fall 2015 collection. In keeping with the black-tie dress code, the actress pulled her hair back into a sleek, low ponytail, but left little strands of hair framing her face. So simple, so cute.
In conclusion, we'd like to thank Miss Shipka for waking us up from our semi-catatonic state of indifference over celebrity spottings during NYFW — we loved seeing her around this season. Here's hoping she keeps her front row streak going through the Paris shows.
