Between the prevalence of celebrity children on the catwalk and her first name's weighty associations, it's only fitting that Alaia Baldwin should make a run at the fashion industry. To that end, Baldwin — older sister of Hailey, daughter of Stephen — has signed with State Management, a modeling agency that launched at the start of New York Fashion Week in September.
According to Asos magazine, Baldwin previously worked with Major Models, though she hasn't yet hit the same level of visibility that her sister, a sometime face of Topshop, has. With State working to establish its own credibility, we'd guess that Baldwin's now looking to move on up in the modeling world, too. Founded by IMG and Wilhelmina vet Rene Gonzalez, State markets itself around representing men and women with strong personalities and the potential to be role models — an apt angle in an era when social media gives models the opportunity to pull back the curtain on their lives.
"We found Alaia to be extremely down to earth, and we believe she is a person that is relatable to all generations — a rare quality that is not always easy to find," Gonzalez said in a statement.
With her shaggy dark hair and bangs, Baldwin has a slightly edgier vibe than the long-haired Jenners and Hadids currently haunting the runways. While we're not saying she's going to book a Saint Laurent exclusive immediately, we'd say this Baldwin is one to watch.
