Earlier this morning, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stopped by Lancaster House, where they met again with President Xi Jinping of China and his wife, Madame Peng Liyuan, on the second day of their state visit in Britain.
On this occasion, the parties were celebrating collaborations between their two cultures — bringing together such disparate figures as Jackie Chan, Dreamworks's Kung Fu Panda and milliner Philip Treacy.
As ever, eyes were on what the Duchess wore: a semi-sheer floral lace dress by Dolce & Gabbana — currently available on Net-a-Porter for $3,495 — which might have been risqué if it weren't for the modest slip, high ruffled neckline and long sleeves. (Ah, the ever reliable Middleton. Always extinguishing the flame before it gets too hot.) It was an unusual choice, given that the occasion probably warranted a dress designed by a British designer or, better yet, a Chinese designer living in London; Huishan Zhang might have been a good choice.
Alas, there were no tiaras in sight this time around, but the photo of the Duchess with Chan kind of makes up for it, don't you think?
