This past summer, Kate Spade & Co. announced plans to expand from an apparel and accessories brand into a full-fledged lifestyle empire by diving into new categories such as children's clothing, kitchen accessories, sleepwear and athleisure. On Thursday morning, Kate Spade New York made its first foray into the latter with the debut of a collaboration with Los Angeles-based Beyond Yoga. Their capsule collection consists of 21 pieces ranging in price from $80 to $178.
"This new athleisure collection is a thoughtful expansion of our lifestyle offerings, done in a way that is uniquely Kate Spade New York and true to our customer-centric brand promise," said Mary Beech, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Kate Spade & Co. Athleisure collections available these days don't vary greatly from one another: punchy colors, trippy prints, sheer panel details and tops or bras with multiple crisscrossed straps are flooding the market. So it's refreshing to see Kate Spade's playful take on fitness gear.
The limited-edition line marries Beyond Yoga's high-quality fabrics with Kate Spade's signature feminine details, such as a full-zip jacket in the brand's signature black-and-cream striped print and an adorable bow at the neckline. A bow! In fact, there are bows everywhere: near the lower calf on a pair of solid black leggings and across a peek-a-boo sports bra in red.
The Kate Spade New York and Beyond Yoga collection will be available online, at select regional and speciality stores and at boutique studio locations in Jan. 2016. Scroll down to get a small sneak peek.
