After pairing up with Iris Apfel for Kate Spade's spring campaign, Karlie Kloss is back for another round, this time with fellow St. Louis native and longtime BFF, Derek Blasberg, who was cast alongside Kloss for the brand's holiday campaign. Because isn't spending time with your loved ones what the holidays are all about?
In the images, Blasberg, who recently joined Vanity Fair as the magazine's "Man on the Street," cuddles up with Kloss in the back of a cab on a city street filled with string-lights. In other backseat scenes and in individual shots, Kloss is joined by the kind of real-life beautiful people Kate Spade loves to feature in its campaigns: literary agent Anne Borchardt; soulful singer Alice Smith and her daughter, Lulu Greenwood; actress/photographer Sasha Frolova; and the Matsuura family (Non, Akiko) who own the Brooklyn-based e-boutique, Aloha Picnic.
Shot by Emma Summerton in New York City, the entire campaign features Kate Spade's signature feminine party dresses and kitschy accessories in a preppy-perfect world. The look is winter festive, certainly, but in an sophisticated way and without any cheesy Santa Clauses or red-and-green color combinations. The brand's signature sense of humor — see Kloss buzzed on champagne, above — is front and center.
